Leg Yield/ In The Saddle
Position your horse so he is perpendicular to the fence with his nose facing the fence.
For a correct leg yield, you should apply leg pressure to ask the horse to step over at the moment when his inside front foot is pushing off the ground.
( You will see his shoulder reaching back.) His next moment will be to pick up that inside foot and move it forward. If you ask him to step across at this moment, he can most easily cross it in front of his outside leg.
